Board of Supervisors votes to layoff six county employees (Visalia Times-Delta / Tulare Advance-Register)

The Tulare County Board of Supervisors voted to layoff six employees from three departments in their regular meeting today.

State employee union ratifies contract deal (The Record and Herald News)

Under the new agreement, Communications Workers of America members will take 10 unpaid furlough days while deferring a wage increase in exchange for a no-layoff pledge through December 2010.

Mayor Bing delays layoffs, says changes to City Hall afoot (Detroit News)

Detroit –Mayor Dave Bing made a surprise visit this morning to the Detroit City Council to discuss myriad issues during his first 50 days in office, including plans to hold off on proposed layoffs, the Cobo Center deal and the financial crisis.

Dozens of Broward teachers to be rehired this week (Miami Herald)

As many as 60 of the 394 Broward teachers let go one week ago will find out this week that their layoff was short-lived. By Thursday, the school district plans to offer jobs to between 50 and 60 teachers, according to the Broward Teachers Union. It was not clear Tuesday what positions those teachers would be offered.
