Stark County sheriff told to make layoffs

Recent staffing cutbacks because of budget shortfalls in the Stark County Sheriff's Department have some county officials thinking they should have set their sights higher when they successfully sought voter approval of a half-cent public safety sales tax in February 2010.

No layoffs for Navajo Nation

There will be no layoffs when the 2013 Navajo Nation operating budget goes into effect on Oct. 1. That was the decision of the Navajo Nation Council's Budget and Finance Committee on Monday and the committee reaffirmed their decision on Thursday.
