Bing blames union for looming city worker layoffs (Detroit Free Press)

Detroit Mayor Dave Bing said Thursday that more employee layoffs are imminent because the city has been unable to reach a contract agreement with its largest union. “We’re spending money we don’t have, which means we have to lay off more people than we planned,” said Bing, who would not reveal how many workers may get pink slips.
