City Hall rattles layoff saber at unions (Chicago Tribune)

City Hall continued to pressure labor unions for concessions today as officials said layoff notices could go out early next week if a deal isn’t reached soon. Chief Financial Officer Gene Saffold outlined falling city revenues at a news conference and said unions need to allow for unpaid days off and other cost-cutting measures to avoid layoffs.
