County supervisors authorize layoffs (The Bakersfield Californian)
No one wanted to do it. Certainly no one relished their role as economic executioner. But on Tuesday, the Kern County Board of Supervisors got busy approving the layoffs of dozens of public employees in a desperate attempt to balance the county’s budget.
