Hire deputies due for layoff, Sacramento police chief urged by union (The Sacramento Bee)

With the Sacramento Police Department suddenly basking in $9.5 million of federal grants, the head of the city police union is urging the department’s leadership to hire some of the 130 Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies scheduled to be laid off this weekend.
