Layoff notices for 188 teachers (The Providence Journal)

The West Warwick School Committee this afternoon expects to authorize sending layoff notices to more than half of the district’s 360 teachers, hedging its fiscal bets as it confronts a threatened $3.7-million operating deficit and seeks contract concessions from the teachers’ union.
