Lingle starts issuing layoff notices to 1,100 workers, sets furloughs for 900 (Honolulu Advertiser)

Gov. Linda Lingle announced that the state today will begin delivering written layoff notices to the approximately 1,100 state employees who were previously notified their positions could be eliminated.
