Parents protest layoffs among staffers working with kids (Somerville Journal)

Somerville parents will march to City Hall Thursday night and present aldermen with a list of signatures protesting four layoffs in the city’s youth and recreation department. “These women run programs that keep our kids busy and out of trouble so why can’t [the city] cut somewhere else?” parent Maryann Wallace asked. “There are very few vacancies at City Hall.”
