Recession Prompts Layoffs at Local Cement Company (WFMZ Eastern Pennsylvania and Western New Jersey)

Keystone Cement Company announced today the layoffs of 27 workers at its plant in East Allen Township, Northampton County. The company blames the layoffs on the slowdown in construction and the resulting decline in the demand for cement. “To keep our business competitive we must reduce our payroll costs,” said company president Manuel Llop.
