REGION: Stimulus money could head off layoffs of deputies (The Californian)
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department will use $12.9 million in federal stimulus money to hire 20 new deputies and keep 30 other recent hires who might have otherwise faced layoffs, sheriff’s officials said Wednesday.
