School board drops teacher layoff proposal (The Press-Enterprise)
An effort to close an $18.5 million budget gap in 2009-10 won’t involve teacher layoffs. The San Bernardino City Unified School District Board of Education voted 7-0 against a contingency plan that would have tapped a state education code provision that allows emergency layoffs under certain budgetary conditions.
