Union County layoffs include sheriff’s deputies (WCNC Charlotte)
MONROE, N.C. — Union County’s sheriff is warning that layoffs of deputies could mean a slower response time in emergencies. Union County Sheriff Eddie Cathey and the county commissioners will meet Tuesday to discuss the county’s $15 million budget shortfall due to the slumping economy.
