Vallejo students encouraged to protest layoffs (Vallejo Times-Herald)

World language teachers at Hogan High School encouraged hundreds of students to write letters to the Times-Herald during class time — some for extra credit — to protest possible teacher layoffs.The teachers — some of whom recently received pink slips — defended the letter-writing campaign by about 450 students.
