‘We cannot pay what we don’t have’: Tempers flare as East St. Louis OKs budget with 7 layoffs
At 4:30 p.m. Friday, the Financial Advisory Authority approved the city’s 2010 budget, which included laying off five firefighters, one position in the police department and one position in finance.
